Jean Monnet Chair invites you to Postgraduate seminar: How to publish a cumulative PhD?

The formula of a cumulative dissertation is gaining popularity among PhD students. One of its advantages is that the doctoral student finishes doctorate with a recognizable publication track which makes her/him more competitive on the job market.

– But what does it take to write a cumulative PhD?

– What are the strategies to approach the topic and structure such dissertation ?

– What are the main benefits and potential difficulties of this formula?

The aim of this seminar – directed to PhD students, supervisors and potential candidates – is to address these and other questions on the basis of the first-hand experience.

Speaker:

Jan Krotký is a post-doctoral researcher in the InPaCo project financed by the National Science Centre and assistant professor at the Institute of Political Science of the University of Wrocław. He received master’s degrees in sociology and European studies at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University in Brno, where he also completed his doctorate in international relations and European studies. In February 2023 he defended his PhD thesis composed of three scientific articles published in well-ranked international journals: European Policy Analysis, Journal of European Contemporary Studies and European Security.

Moderator:

Karolina Borońska-Hryniewiecka is the principal investigator in the InPaCo project, associate professor at the Institute of Political Science and a member of the Jean Monnet Chair (JMC) of the University of Wrocław.
