Launch of the Work-Net International network

Dr hab. Adam Mrozowicki, the Head of the Department of Sociology of Work and Economic Sociology, attended the inauguration of the Work-Net International network at the University of Manchester on 21-22 January 2025.

Work-Net International aims to foster research and teaching collaborations between research centres and institutes that carry out research on the world of work around the world. Its activities will include support for early career researchers and the development of research groups, as well as fostering international research collaboration and policy dialogue.

The Department of the Sociology of Work and Economic Sociology at the Institute of Sociology, University of Wrocław, is among 31 research centres from Europe, North America, Africa and Asia that joined the network.

It was inaugurated at the 6th edition of the international Fairness at Work conference organised by the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) at the University of Manchester. It was attended by more than 140 scholars and practitioners, including representatives from the 26 founding institutions and the International Labour Organisation. The event was organised by the team of the network’s founding initiator, Professor Jill Rubery, from the Work&Inequalities Institute (the Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) at the University of Manchester).

Some of the topics discussed during the meeting included plans to apply for joint research projects and funding for PhD student collaborations within the network.
