Intercultural Mediation, MA

The world around us changes constantly. If you want to follow it, you need tools. The Intercultural Mediation studies will certainly give you them.

Before I moved to Wrocław to study Intercultural Mediation, I thought that this city was similar to others and that this specialisation was just like many other studies. I could not have been more wrong! The Intercultural Mediation programme equipped me with not only high quality theoretical knowledge, which broadened my horizons, but also with a number of practical skills! I learnt to cooperate in the international environment and run intercultural negotiations – today I use these skills in my work
with clients from Asia as a purchase specialist in LPP, the largest Polish clothing company. I learnt to apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, which facilitate the evaluation of projects – currently I use them to evaluate assistance projects in my work with two non-governmental organisations. Wrocław turned out to be an amazing place with lots of fascinating stories and excellent cafés, where you may learn and meet friends as well as fantastic places to have a rest and fun. The time spent in Wrocław during my studies was a priceless experience.

Political Science MA – Central and East European Studies

Studies in the political science specialisation proved to be a great introduction to a successful career in the area of political communication and PR.

The Political Science programme turned out to be a perfect choice for me. I studied in English together with friends from all over the world. I not only gained extensive theoretical knowledge, but also a number of practical skills. When I came back to Romania after the programme, I immediately got practice in a government institution – recruiters paid attention to the fact that I had studied political science abroad. Studying in the MA programme in the area of political communication perfectly prepared me for my future professional career. Currently, I work as a press officer in the International Migration Organisation. I also have very nice memories from the time I spent in Wrocław. It is an incredible and lively city with a fascinating history and great cultural life!

Political Science, MA

Perfectly prepared programme, professionalism of the teaching staff, international environment – studies at the University of Wrocław was a great experience!

I decided to study in Poland after completing an international relations degree in Bolivia. Frankly, when I arrived in Wrocław, I did not know Central and Eastern Europe at all. Today, I think that studying in Poland was a great choice. Studies in political science gave me extensive knowledge of political communication, public relations, the functioning of the European Union, system transformation of postcommunist countries and the development of democracy. Everyday interactions with a group of friends from Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and many other countries made this experience even deeper – we were the best source of information for each other about our countries! After graduating from these studies, I left for some time to Bolivia and worked for the Bolivian government. However, I liked Wrocław so much that I decided to come back. Currently, I live here and work as a strategic communication specialist and lecturer.

Intercultural Migration

I recommend the Intercultural Migration studies for people who want to work in the
intercultural environment, as they will be equipped with all the tools and skills
necessary for it.

The combination of gaining theoretical knowledge with practice and studying in the international environment are the greatest advantages of the excellent Intercultural Mediation programme. Because of the knowledge and skills I gained during the two- year study programme, today I work as a manager of a team and adviser in the scope of supporting voluntary returns and reintegration in the International Migration Organisation in Serbia. This programme not only prepared me in an excellent way for work in such an organisation as the IMO, but also helped me define my professional goals. I gained extensive theoretical knowledge of many essential social issues and the skill of critical analysis, problem resolution and effective communication in intercultural conditions. The whole period in Wrocław was a fantastic experience.

European Studies, MA

It is you who may change the world.

Maybe it is a brave statement, but each of us has the opportunity to change the world. The European Studies programme will equip you with knowledge necessary to understand important social, political and economic processes, which you may use in a different way. I am a humanitarian worker, to which studies in the European Studies specialisation have contributed a lot. The greatest advantage of this programme was the skilful combination of European and global themes, due to which I learnt to understand international processes from various perspectives. I also recall very well the support I received from lecturers at each step – in the scope of scientific matters and the development of my career after the studies as well as their involvement in sharing their knowledge with us.

European Studies, MA

The European Studies programme prepared me in a great way to work as an international business adviser.

It was an unforgettable experience – the English-language studies together with talented young people from all over the world and excellent lecturers, not only academics, but also practitioners. The European Studies programme equipped me with interdisciplinary knowledge of many disciplines and skills of critical reflection, which have been helpful at each step of my professional career. Currently, I work at the managerial position in an international consulting company EY as a Customer Relationship Lead, where I use substantive knowledge gained during my studies and skills of working in the international environment.

Global Studies, BA

At the University of Wrocław you will feel at home. Studies will be a time of growth if you use them well and treat as something really important.

I chose the Global Studies specialisation as I am fascinated by international politics, and I would like to deepen my knowledge in this scope. Due to the fact that my native language is Persian, studying in English was quite a challenge, but I treated it as an adventure! These four years in Wrocław would not have been as an good experience if not for great people I met here and my family’s support, which I could count on all the time. Studies in Wrocław also gave me a chance to confront the reality of many stereotypes which I had about Europeans and Western people. Living abroad taught me to be strong and cope with different issues both in good and difficult moments.

Even today I see that my knowledge of the world is incomparably greater than the knowledge with which I started studies!

Studying in the international environment in the Faculty of Social Sciences is
a fascinating experience. I have met a lot of interesting people from all over the
world. We are learning to communicate and understand each other. These studies have given me extensive knowledge of globalisation mechanisms and their impact on reality. Due to a great number of different courses in political science, international relations or political geography, I have gained the knowledge necessary to understand and analyse international processes. Studies abroad are a very good choice. Even today I see that my knowledge of the world is incomparably greater than the knowledge with which I started studies! I also have interesting adventures while travelling to and from university by bus 116. Highly recommended!

Global Studies, BA

Do not be afraid of making mistakes. Fall, get up, fall again, fall better and better. At some time it will pay off.

The greatest advantage of the Global Studies programme is its uniqueness. Because of these studies, I can look at many international issues from various perspectives. Global Studies help me to understand Europe better – some subjects are devoted to the European integration issues, lecturers are always willing to carry out open discussions on the most important topics. Everyday challenges connected with studying have helped me realise that I am able to do much more than I ever thought. Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences were a great time for my personal development. I also recommend delicious coffee at our faculty café!
