Discipline Boards

The tasks of the scientific discipline council are regulated in the statutes of the University of Wrocław (para. 29)
The tasks of the board of scientific discipline include in particular:
- awarding of degrees in a given discipline;
- nostrification of diplomas for the award of degrees;
- cooperating with deans in striving for the highest quality of research in a given discipline;
- cooperating with deans in the evaluation of scientific activity in a given discipline;
- proposing criteria for the employment of academic teachers in a given discipline;
- proposing criteria for the scientific evaluation of academic teachers in a given discipline in research and research and teaching staff groups;
- proposing a strategy for the development of the discipline at the University;
- overseeing the training of doctoral students in the doctoral school in the discipline, including:
- proposing recruitment criteria,
- proposing training programmes,
- ensuring that the college complies with the requirements for the evaluation of doctoral schools;
- appointing committees to carry out certain activities in proceedings for the award of the doctoral degree;
- taking decisions and other actions in matters concerning postdoctoral proceedings, including identifying candidates for postdoctoral committees;
- giving opinions on applications for the conferment of powers equivalent to those conferred by the degree of doktor habilitowany in a given discipline;
- giving its opinion on the employment of academic staff in research and research and teaching positions;
- nominating a candidate for the selection committee referred to in § 172 of the Statutes.
